This policy applies to the IT assets within the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering.
The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering uses the IU Ready tool for departmental Business Continuity Planning (BCP). The IT team will review the IT portion of the IU Ready BCP and update it annually. The IU Ready system documents how the ITG unit operates under normal conditions and contains detailed information about all networked IT assets including type, function, OS, mitigation controls, backups and administration information.
The goal of Luddy IT business continuity plan is to enable mission critical IT functions of the School in the event of a disaster or crisis.
Exceptions to policy
Some research centers are affiliated with Luddy, but are self-managed and therefore not under the purview of the ITG team or this policy:
- The Luddy Hardware Database is updated daily and is considered the central resource for the most up to date information about IT assets. See the Hardware Database Guidelines for input information.
- Each June the IT Director will download a report from the IT-28 Compliance reports within the Luddy Hardware Database. This report is uploaded into the IU Ready tool. This file contains information that is above and beyond the minimal required information in the IU Ready system.
- The IT Director will lead the Core Infrastructure Team in a review of the IT section of the IU Ready tool and revise and update accordingly.
- The IT Disaster Recovery policy and plan will be updated concurrently.
